Cleopatra has been portrayed many times in art, plays and films, but what about in literature? This presentation will cover English authors from Chaucer to Tennyson, with a nod to writers of the emperor Augustus’s time and the 14th-century Italian Boccaccio.
There will be short readings from those writers and they will sometimes be seen in the social or political contexts of the time. The tone will be informal and, it is hoped, entertaining.
